Impossible Project Proposal
Alicia and Kate
Alicia and I were talking. She told me about this time she was riding around, in Phoenix, in the rain, holding an umbrella in her sister’s car. Her sister Renee had this car; a dumpy boring sedan was how she described it. Renee really wanted a convertible instead, so she cut off the top of her car. Alicia remembers riding around in the rain with her, both holding umbrellas. And I thought, Wow, that is so beautiful. We have to make that. We have to re-do that. I called my sister Renee on her cell to get the car facts. She didn’t answer and I was at work. So, I left a message explaining the proposal that Kate and I were writing and how I needed more information. Specifically, I wanted to know how she sawed the roof off of that car. I didn’t see her call back so she left me a voicemail. She said that the previous owner had actually done it and that there were sliding locks to re-attach the roof. Eventually, it didn’t work; that’s why she had to use an umbrella in her car when it rained. When we finally spoke, she said that it was a dark grey 1978 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme with silver lining. The cut in the roof was like a home-made T-top.
Even with all these facts, it is not possible to know what they entail. We have no idea what it takes to make and do this project.
Alicia and Kate met in Cape Town, South Africa. Alicia Borg is from Phoenix, Arizona. Kate Kendall is from Houston, Texas. They currently live in Los Angeles, California. They work together in one garage off of Sunset Boulevard. They are not particularly tall.
